Bio: We are Dub Defenders, a family DJ duo from Merseyside. We discovered Dub originally through Charlie who is a huge fan of Lee Scratch Perry, that mixed in with our influences of Drum and Bass, Grime, Dubstep and Heavy Bass Music. A few years back we attended the United Nations of Dub Weekender and from that weekend Dub Defenders was born. After doing numerous Pirate Radio shows we had the opportunity to take our sound out and DJ on the P&O Ferries Reggae Sea Cruise which travelled from Hull to Amsterdam and featured some great selectors covering all styles of music from Lovers, Dancehall, Ska and Dub. This was a great experience as we got to do a set on the way and on the way back, strictly vinyl selection on a rocky boat. From then we have opened up for many of our idols including Dawn Penn, Dennis Bovell, Dub Pistols, Gentlemans Dub Club, Soom T, Congo Natty, Dreadzone and The Prodigy on the No Tourists Tour. We have also had the privilege of performing at some great festivals including Baltic Weekender, Africa Oye, Positive Vibration, One Love, Beat Herder and International Dub Gathering. Our Mixes have had 19,000+ listens on Mixcloud with many reaching number 1 in various Charts with the mixes covering all of our influences from Roots, Dub, Grime, Steppas, Jungle and Bass, this has given us some great Radio Opportunities with us having regular shows and guest mixes featured on Dub Frequency, Da Hub, Melodic Distraction, KCC Live and Capital Xtra. Since Covid began we have been working mostly on producing new music for CBM (production trio we are part of with our fellow producer Barry) working on remixes for Dub Pistols and Bukkha (to name a few), getting the finishing touches together on our Album and working on our Dub Defenders Guest Mceries featuring some of our favourite MCs, the first is on our mixcloud page and features Grime veteran Brakeman. When Covid is over we aspire to play on Wandem Sound after meeting them and performing together at International Dub Gathering 2019.
